Dogs, cats and ferrets can all be affected by heartworm disease. However, there are other mammals such as wolves, coyotes, foxes, who can also be carriers of the disease. Since foxes and coyotes live in close proximity to us here in Texas, they are both considered very important disease carriers.

Heartworm disease is a real problem here in San Antonio, Texas. It doesn’t get too cold during the winter, which leads to the disease staying active all year. The Southeastern United States is a hotspot for heartworm, which makes it very important to use prevention year-round.
